Abu Dhabi: Amnesty applicants in the UAE looking to leave the country after regularizing their residency status should be aware of the validity period for their exit permits. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has issued a reminder that exit permits granted during the status adjustment grace period are valid for only 14 days. In a recent advisory, the ICP emphasized that these exit permits can be obtained through an electronic service accessible via personal accounts, company accounts, or authorized typing centers. Applicants can conveniently access the exit permit service through the ICP's official website or smart app.
To assist applicants, the ICP outlined a simple six-step process to obtain exit permits:
Log into the account using the UAE PASS digital ID.
Select the “Exit Permit Issuance” service.
Choose the relevant category (family members residing in the UAE, domestic workers, laborers, or canceled visa holders).
Specify the individual for whom the exit permit is being requested.
Submit the application, review, and update the retrieved details as necessary, followed by payment of applicable fees.
Receive the exit permit via email and ensure departure within the specified timeframe.
The ICP has urged all individuals holding exit permits to leave the country from the nearest exit point before the expiration of the permit or the grace period, which concludes on December 31. Those who do not comply will face reinstatement of prior penalties and restrictions. For those who have a re-entry ban stamp, obtaining an exit permit requires a valid passport or an active return document without a specified validity period. The authority advises individuals planning to travel to book their tickets only after completing the exit permit procedures. Additionally, travel documents issued by embassies or consulates will be accepted for those wishing to leave, provided that the information matches the residency details on record.
